An Art As Old As Time. Reimagined for Today.

Masks crocheted and knitted by hand, stitch by stitch. Wearable sculpture for the ones who dress as an act of expression.

The story

Every stitch holds a memory.

HIRA began with a ball of yarn and an old technique: hands looping, hooking and knitting fibre into form. Today each mask is still made the slow way, one piece at a time, as a bridge between ancestral craft and the way we dress now.

The origin

Crochet and knitting are among the oldest textile arts: loops of yarn shaped by hand, stitch by stitch. HIRA starts there, with yarn, patience and fingers that remember.

The craft

Every mask is crocheted or knitted by hand in small batches. Natural fibres, hand-dyed yarns, hours of slow work. No two are identical, and that is the point.

The wearer

A HIRA mask is made to be worn: on stage, on the street, in front of a camera. Alternative fashion with roots, for people who see the face as a canvas.

A mask is not a disguise. It is the face you choose to show.
